Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will separate from the primary party to begin their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Planners tables.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
